Senate Bill 203, sponsored by Senator Mack A. “Bodi” White Jr., would create an exemption from ethics rules for industry. The bill is part of a decades-long campaign by industry to control the Capital Area Ground Water Conservation Commission (CAWGCC) to prevent the Commission from regulating saltwater intrusion into the Southern Hills aquifer, the clean water source for Baton Rouge and surrounding regions.

The bill would allow the largest, industrial users of the aquifer to be regulated by their own employees.
