Together Louisiana will be meeting at the State Capitol tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8 at 9 a.m. and again at 12 noon to meet with lawmakers and urge them in person to vote against HCR 3 and other anti-local ITEP control bills this session.
Our message is simple: this resolution is a blatant attempt to strip away the local ITEP control that was granted to local governments through Gov. John Bel Edwards’s 2016 Executive Order - a move he had the constitutional authority to make and that the legislature lacks to overrule.
HCR 3 - as well as any other bills this session threatening to take away local control - can't legally impact the Governor's constitutional authority. But these attempts to roll Louisiana back to the old rubber-stamp regime of the past are meant to test the resolve and conviction behind our ITEP campaign.
That's why we're organizing at the Capitol to tell lawmakers to vote no on HCR 3 and other attempts to strip away local ITEP control.
