Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
1. Scope
Together Louisiana (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of the people who support and participate in our work. This policy explains how [confirm full legal entity name] collects, uses, and shares personal information through www.togetherla.org and other web pages, forms, and online services that link to this policy.
Independent local organizations and other websites may have their own privacy policies. This policy covers information they provide to us when we handle that information; it does not govern their independent practices.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Contact information: name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, and preferred communication methods.
Participation information: organization or congregation affiliation, interests, volunteer preferences, registrations, attendance, and information you provide through surveys, pledges, or organizing activities.
Donation information: contribution amount, date, frequency, receipt details, and transaction status.
Messages and submissions: questions, feedback, stories, photographs, and other information you choose to provide.
Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, and the date and time of visits.
Payment information is handled by Stripe. We may receive limited payment details, such as transaction identifiers and the last four digits of a card, where supplied by the provider.
We collect provided information directly from you, automatically through Website technology.
Please avoid sending sensitive personal information through general contact forms unless we specifically request it through an appropriate process.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
Respond to questions and requests.
Process donations, issue acknowledgments, and maintain financial records.
Register participants and coordinate events, training, volunteering, and community organizing.
Send updates, invitations, fundraising messages, and information about our work consistent with your preferences and applicable law.
Connect you with relevant organizers or local organizations when you request that connection or when it is explained at collection.
Operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Website and our programs.
Meet legal obligations and prevent fraud or misuse.
If a program needs sensitive information or uses information in a materially different way, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required.
4. How we share information
We may share information with:
Service providers that help with hosting, payments, contact management, email delivery, event registration, analytics, and technical support. We require appropriate safeguards and restrictions on their use of information for services provided to us.
Local network organizations and program partners when needed for a connection you request or an activity whose information-sharing practices were explained when you signed up. We do not automatically give every network organization access to all supporter information.
Other recipients you authorize, such as when you give permission to publish a story or participate in a public action.
Authorities or other parties where disclosure is legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
We do not sell or rent donor or supporter personal information. We do not share it with other organizations for their independent marketing or fundraising without your permission.
5. Cookies and similar technology
The Website does not use third-party tools outside of those native to Squarespace. Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar tools may collect information about visits or interactions.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and any privacy controls available on the Website. Blocking some cookies may affect Website functions. Where required by law, we request consent for nonessential tracking and honor applicable opt-out signals.
6. Email and text messages
You can unsubscribe from email outreach through the unsubscribe link in our messages or by contacting us. We may still send necessary responses, donation receipts, or requested administrative messages.
If you separately opt in to a Together Louisiana text message program, messages may include organizing updates, event reminders, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising requests, as described at signup. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Consent to texts is not a condition of donating or participating.
Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance, or contact contact@togetherla.org. We honor applicable consent-revocation requirements.
We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text-message opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide this information to service providers solely to operate our messaging program, or disclose it when legally required.
7. Public submissions and donor recognition
Information you deliberately submit to a public page or public campaign may be visible to others. We will clearly identify intended public uses when collecting such submissions.
We will publish donor names or other identifying donation information only according to the choice you make or permission you provide. We do not publish payment details. Event photography and recording will be addressed through notices or permissions appropriate to the event; this policy alone does not serve as a photo release.
8. Your choices and requests
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, change communication preferences, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for a use.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have additional rights, including to obtain a copy of your information or opt out of certain processing. We will handle requests as required by applicable law and may verify your identity before responding. Some records must be retained for legal, accounting, security, or other legitimate purposes.
Send requests to contact@togetherla.org.
9. Retention and security
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including applicable legal and accounting requirements, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements. Retention depends on the type of information and its use.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s privacy
The Website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 through the Website. If you believe a child has provided such information, contact us so we can review and address it.
Programs involving children or youth may require separate notices and parent or guardian permissions.
11. Processing location
We and our service providers process information in [confirm countries where information is stored or accessed]. If you access the Website from another country, your information may be processed in a country with different privacy protections. Where applicable, we use legally required safeguards for international transfers.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the revised version with a new effective date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent when required by law. We will not treat publication of an updated policy as consent to uses requiring separate consent.
